Concept + Lyrics + Attitude + Music = Performance! Performin' isn't just standing up on a stage a sayin' a rhyme. Anybody can do that! But not everyone can rock da crowd! To do that you need ta have a tight concept, you need ta have lyrics that focus on ya concept, attitude that matches ya concept and lyrics, and music that sets the backdrop for the whole thing! Busta Rhymes uses this formula and no one can deny that he knows how ta move da crowd! Why do you think he stood out on every single he was on, BEFORE he even had his own album? He had his "CLAMP" down strong! Look for these things next time ya see one of his videos, next time ya see him perform. His concept, lyrics, attitude, and music are all tight and all focused. Think about Biggie and Tupac. These two stand out as rappers and performers. Whether you like them...or their music...or not, you gotta admit that they had that certain somethin' that made them stand out from the rest and stand out on their songs. They were using the "CLAMP" method even if they didn't know it! Look at their videos again. Listen to their music again and see if you can't find every one of these components in what they put out and did! Look at other artists that you got respect for, I bet they got their "CLAMP" down too! This isn't some magic formula. It takes creativity to come up with a nice concept. You still gotta have talent ta write some hittin' lyrics. You gotta practice ta be able ta portray to the crowd the attitude that you want them ta see and feel in your music. And speakin' of music, you gotta have the skills ta make those trunk bumpin' tracks! But this method can take ya to the next level from wherever you're at now. It can help ya to improve as an MC.
