The THIRD rule of performin' is thatYOU NEED TA EMAPHASIZE YA LYRICS WITH YA BODY! This is one way to "get into it". It helps the crowd ta pay attention ta what ya sayin' and "see" the concept of ya song. Ya can emphasize the lyrics in many ways. One way is ta do a motion or movement that "acts out" what ya sayin'. Example: If ya talkin' about drivin' then ya can emphasize it with a motion of ya hand on the steerin' wheel and ya body leanin' back. (O.K. it's a stupid example, but cha get the picture!) Ya emphasize ya lyrics with arm movements. Ya can emphasize them with facial expressions. Ya emphasize them with ya voice. Examples: Yellin' louder or talkin' quiter. Ya can move ya whole body ta emphasize ya lyrics. Examples: Ya can get low, sit down, jump---whateva! The main point that I'm tryin' ta poke ya with is ta get creative! Hints: -Only emphasize the important words or phrases in ya songs. -Sometimes ya can emphasize ya lyrics by stoppin' ya movements if ya been movin a lot. -Pay attention ta the way other MC's do it. Look for things ya like and don't like, so ya know what ta do and not ta do. -Pay attention ta what moves get the crowd into it at one place and try it somewhere else ta see if it works with other people.
