What Holy Hip-Hop groups are you really feelin' right now? Tru: I really like Sackcloth a lot! I also really like all the wonderful guests that appeared on the album Prophetics, Man of War, Freddie Bruno... Absolute1: Cross Movement and Grits. I dig the Unction as well, cuz Profound is making some dope tracks! What emcees/groups would you like ta work with in the future? Tru: I'd love to work with Cross Movement! I'd love to work with Sup! I'd love to work with Sojourn! Absolute1: I would like to work with Sojourn of Future Shock, Grits, and Cross Movement. And hopefully I'll be able to do some more work with Ahmad, cause that cat's so dope! Roc: MC Donalds. Where do you think Holy Hip-Hop's place is in Hip-Hop in general? Tru: I think it depends on the style. I think it belongs right there along side everything else at Tower, Wherehouse, etc. Some of it certainly seems like it is meant to reach the same audience as the secular artists. There are so many different styles of hip-hop. I think God has things under control, and it will all work out just fine. Absolute1: For the most part, it seems like it's a few steps behind, but lately that's been changing. I just think that the Christian heads need to realize that we are not 'better' then the unsaved heads, we just know the one who can change their lives! When cats have THAT attitude, we are VERY separated from the hip hop culture, and the heads that can truly minister to these secular cats have a lot harder time trying to do so. How long have y'all been a group? How'd ya meet/hook up? Tru: Sir Roc and I have been a group since 1978. My Mom introduced us. Absolute1: I responded to the Emcee Wanted add and my resume was passed along with a fifty dollar bill, so I was on top... the rest is history! What are the disadvantages ta bein' white AND Christian emcees? Tru: I think that there are no disadvantages. Do what you do and do it well. Roc: I wouldn't know. I am not white and mainly am not an Emcee. One thing I know is that over here there is no white/black/asian/mexican emcee thing. It' just emcee. What are the advantages? Tru: The advantage is that we are filled with the Spirit of God. Roc: Scholarships. | |||||||||||
